DeWeather – Started in 2009 by Clark DeBear as a local-ish one man show born on Facebook to forecast weather for the Lehigh Valley with an irreverent twist. The forecasts were honest and didn’t quite meld into the sculpted mold of the on-air show pieces that occupy our network news weather screens. He went on FB Live from his vehicle while driving to and from work. Using a new lexicon of descriptive terminology and attitude that could never be put on the local news he slowly grew a VERY loyal following of people who loved his honest analysis without the facade of the TV personalities we’ve all come to know. Given that the name DeWeather is a nod to Delaware University, these people became referred to as Blue Cock Nation. It turned out he was really good at actually forecasting the weather not simply reading the usual national models on the 6 o’clock news. As the years passed he began to ponder what more could he do with this following. He decided to see if he could collect supplies to donate to nursing home residents for the holidays. Blue Cock Nation answered the call & DeWeather Cares was born. He collected and delivered care packages including things like toothpaste, hand written cards, word search books and other items to pass the time to many local nursing homes. Then a chance message from a viewer about a family member in another state experiencing some horrible flooding changed things in a big way. He began researching the small town of Waverly, TN. He asked for donations and once again asked Blue Cock Nation to donate what they could. A few days later he was off, in a rented minivan loaded with supplies, pet food, and the most basic humanitarian needs. Since then the DeSaster Team as it was named has evolved but has always kept the same basic principal to get the most needed supplies to the hardest hit areas as quickly as possible with no red tape whatsoever. the DeSaster Team has been to several states delivering supplies large & small, from a pack of wipes to fire trucks and other equpitment. The grand total runs into the millions, and DeWeather Cares isn’t done yet. Collections are now an ongoing thing, with supplies in storage for the next disaster. The whole idea has now cascaded into the process of forming a full blown 501(c)3 non-profit. There are so many more thing sto come and we ask you to join the Blue Cock Nation and join the ride.
